A first lesson is short and relaxed. Nobody expects you to play anything yet. A typical trial lesson looks like this.
- A quick chat: what music you like, why you want to learn and whether you have played before.
- Meeting the instrument: how to sit or stand, how to hold it and how it makes a sound.
- A first tune or rhythm: something simple you can play by the end of the lesson.
- Questions: lesson times, practice at home and what to bring next time.
Parents are usually welcome to sit in on a child’s first lesson. Wear comfortable clothes, keep nails short for piano, guitar and violin, and bring a water bottle for singing lessons.
