About the school
Who we are, who teaches, and what a year of lessons looks like from the first trial to the summer recital.

A small school where every teacher plays
We started as two teachers sharing one piano room. Today we teach five instruments, and we still know every student by name and every parent by the coffee they drink at pick-up.
- The same teacher every week, one to one
- A practice note to take home after each lesson
- Parents welcome to sit in on lessons
- Adult beginners as welcome as six-year-olds
Meet the teachers
Your trial lesson is with the teacher who would teach you every week.

Clara Song
Piano and voice
Teaches young beginners and adults, and turns sight-reading into a game.

Nia Reyes
Guitar and bass
Plays in a local band and starts every student with a song they already know.

Ingrid Larsen
Violin and viola
Calm with first-time players and very good at bow holds for small hands.

Marcus Bell
Drums
Teaches rhythm before volume, and sends practice-pad homework that neighbours will thank you for.

Recitals and exams
Each term ends with a short, friendly recital. Anyone who wants to plays one piece for family and friends; nobody has to.
Graded exams are optional. When a student is ready and keen, the teacher helps choose an exam and prepares them for it.

How lessons work
1
A free trial lesson
Meet the teacher, try the instrument and ask anything you like. Parents are welcome to sit in.
2
A plan that fits
Together you agree what to aim for, how long each lesson should be and a weekly time that works around school or work.
3
Weekly lessons
The same teacher at the same time each week, with a short practice note to take home after every lesson.
4
Play for others
A friendly recital at the end of each term, and graded exams if and when you want them.
What parents and students say
“Our daughter was nervous before her first lesson. Ten minutes in she was laughing, and now she practises without being asked.”
Sample parent
Piano, age eight
“I started guitar at 52 after years of saying I would. Lessons are relaxed, and I can finally play the songs I grew up with.”
Sample adult student
Guitar
“The end-of-term recital is short and kind. Both our boys played, and nobody minded the wrong notes.”
Sample parent
Violin and drums
Come and try a lesson
Tell us the instrument and the age of the player, and we will suggest a teacher and a time. The first lesson is free and there is nothing to bring.
