A short, well-chosen kit is cheaper, takes less space and is easier to carry from room to room. These basics cover most everyday cleaning.
- Microfibre cloths in two colours: one for kitchens, one for bathrooms.
- An all-purpose cleaner for counters, tables and handles.
- A glass cleaner, or a little diluted washing-up liquid, for mirrors and windows.
- A non-scratch sponge for sinks, hobs and tiles.
- A toilet brush and a toilet cleaner kept in each bathroom.
- A vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool and a soft brush.
- A mop and bucket, or a flat mop with washable pads.
- Rubber gloves, and a caddy to carry everything.
Use products safely
Always read the label and follow the instructions. Never mix bleach with other cleaners, especially those containing ammonia or acids, because the fumes are dangerous. Open a window while you clean, and store products out of reach of children and pets.
Wash microfibre cloths without fabric softener so they keep picking up dust well.
