FAQ
Questions homeowners ask us
Still not sure? Call us and ask for a solar advisor.
How long does solar take to pay for itself?
It depends on the system price, how much electricity you use and when, your utility rates, your roof and the incentives you qualify for. Your quote includes a payback estimate for your home with the assumptions written out, so you can check them. It is an estimate, not a promise.
Do solar panels need maintenance?
Very little. Rain usually keeps panels clean enough. We suggest a yearly check of the panels, wiring, mounts and inverter, and a clean if dust, pollen or bird droppings build up. Your monitoring app shows if output drops.
What warranties come with the system?
Panels, inverters and batteries come with manufacturer warranties, and we add a workmanship warranty on the installation. The exact terms for each product are written in your quote.
Does solar work on cloudy days and in winter?
Yes, but it produces less. Panels work from daylight, not heat, so output drops on dull days and short winter days and rises again in spring and summer. Your estimate covers the whole year.
Do I need a battery?
Not always. A battery stores daytime power for the evening and can run key circuits in a power cut if it is set up for backup. Whether it pays off depends on your rates and habits, and we show both options.
What if my roof needs work soon?
The survey checks its condition. If the roof will need replacing in the next few years, it is usually better to do that first. Panels can be removed and refitted later, but that adds cost.
