How much pizza to order for a party

Group of diverse friends sharing pizza and drinks indoors, enjoying a relaxed gathering.

Ordering pizza for a group is easy until you have to decide how many to get. This rule of thumb helps you order enough without drowning in leftovers.

The rule of thumb

  • Most adults eat two to three slices, and children one to two.
  • A 16-inch pizza is usually cut into 8 slices and feeds about three adults.
  • A 12-inch pizza is usually cut into 6 slices and feeds about two adults.
  • Add one extra pizza for every ten guests if sides are not on the menu, or for teenagers.

For example, 15 adults × 3 slices = 45 slices, which is about six 16-inch pizzas.

Picking the flavours

  • Order about one third plain options such as margherita or cheese. They are always the first to go.
  • Include at least one vegetarian pizza, and ask your guests about vegan, gluten-free and allergy needs before you order.
  • Label each box, or ask us to, so guests with dietary needs can find their pizza quickly.

Make the day easier

  • Order large parties at least a day ahead so we can plan enough dough.
  • Ask for pizzas cut into squares: smaller pieces go further at a stand-up party.
  • Add a tray of salad or garlic knots to stretch the food without ordering more pizza.

Planning something bigger? Tell us the number of guests and we will suggest the right mix of pizzas, sides and desserts.
