Group classes and private lessons are not better or worse than each other; they suit different people and different moments. Many learners combine them.
Group classes suit you if
- you like to learn with other people and hear different voices and mistakes
- a fixed time each week helps you keep going
- you want a lower price per hour
Private lessons suit you if
- you have a specific goal, such as a job interview, a presentation or an exam date
- your timetable changes from week to week
- you want to work on one skill, such as speaking or writing
If you are unsure, start with a level test and a trial class. Your teacher can tell you which format fits your level and your goal, and you can usually switch at the end of a term.
