Nobody in our town should eat alone.
We cook shared lunches, pack food parcels and drive them to neighbours who are going without. And we show you where every dollar goes.

In their own words
“I came in for a food parcel the week my hours were cut. Nobody asked me to explain. I left with a bag of shopping and a time to see the advice desk.”
Sample story

Volunteer with us
Most of the work here is done by volunteers, which is why most of the money reaches the kitchen. You do not need any experience: this is how to start.

1
Choose a role and a time
Packing, cooking, driving, the front desk or the advice desk. Mornings, evenings or Saturdays.
2
Come to a welcome session
Forty-five minutes on a Monday evening: a tour, food safety basics and how we welcome everyone who comes in.
3
Do your first shift with a buddy
You work next to an experienced volunteer until you feel ready on your own.
4
Keep a regular slot
Weekly, monthly or whenever you can. You pick your shifts on the rota.
Volunteers are 16 and over, or 12 and over with an adult (example policy). Groups and company teams are welcome on Saturdays.
Fundraise with us
Come to an event, or raise money your own way with friends, at school or at work.
Sat 7 Nov
Harvest food drive
Collection points in shops across town, 9:00–16:00
Sample events, dates and prices.

Raise money your own way
- A bake sale, quiz night or dress-down day at work or school
- A birthday fundraiser instead of presents
- Asking your employer to match what you give

Volunteer coordinator
Plans the rota, runs the welcome sessions and pairs every new volunteer with a buddy.

Writes the lunch menu around what was donated that week, and teaches food safety.

Questions people ask
Cannot find your answer? Call us or drop by during opening times.
Will I get a receipt for my donation?
Yes. Every online gift gets an email receipt straight away, and we post one if you ask. Whether your gift is tax-deductible depends on our registration and on the rules where you pay tax (sample answer).
Can I give food instead of money?
Yes. Bring tins, dried food, toiletries and baby supplies to the centre, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00. We cannot take home-cooked food or anything past its use-by date.
Can I choose what my money pays for?
Yes. Tell us when you give and we will spend it on that programme. Gifts without a choice go where the need is greatest that month.
Do I need a referral to get help?
Not for your first visit. Come during opening times or call us, and we will talk through what would help. For regular parcels we may ask for a referral from a local agency (example policy).
Can I give every month?
Yes, and it helps us most: regular gifts let us plan the shopping and the van rounds. You can change or stop a monthly gift at any time.
Is my information kept private?
We ask only for what we need to help you or to process your gift, and we do not sell or swap it. Our privacy policy explains how we keep it and how to ask us to delete it.
