An escape room puts a small group under a friendly time limit, which is why many teams use it for an away day. A little planning makes the hour more useful.
Choosing group sizes
Four to six players per room usually works best: everyone has something to do and nobody gets left out. For a bigger team, book several rooms at the same time and mix people who do not usually work together.
Before the day
- Ask the venue which rooms run in parallel and how long the whole visit takes, including the briefing and debrief.
- Tell the venue about anyone with access needs, so they can suggest a suitable room.
- Agree whether the session is a race between rooms or simply a shared experience.
After the game
Spend ten minutes on what happened: who found the key clue, how information was shared and what the group would do differently. Keep it light; the point is a shared story, not a performance review.
