It simply needs a few extra steps at the start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you choose a place<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check the legal requirements for marrying in that country, or plan a legal ceremony at home and a celebration abroad.<\/li>\n\n<li>Think about your guests: travel time, cost, and access for older or less mobile relatives.<\/li>\n\n<li>Look at the weather for your chosen month, and plan a wet-weather option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Once you have a date<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Send save-the-dates early, ideally nine to twelve months ahead, so guests can book time off and travel.<\/li>\n\n<li>Share a simple travel page with flights, places to stay and local transport.<\/li>\n\n<li>Book local suppliers who know the venue, and confirm everything in writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In the final weeks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Confirm transfers for guests and suppliers.<\/li>\n\n<li>Pack a small kit with copies of contracts, the run-of-day timeline and supplier phone numbers.<\/li>\n\n<li>Plan one relaxed get-together before the wedding, so guests can meet each other.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A planner who has organised weddings in your destination, or who works with a trusted local team, can take much of this off your hands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting married away from home takes a little more preparation.
