FAQ
Questions homeowners ask us
Still not sure? Call us and ask for an electrician.
Do I need a permit for electrical work?
Many jobs, such as panel upgrades, rewires, new circuits and EV chargers, need a permit and an inspection. We tell you when a permit is needed and apply for it as part of the job.
Can I do small electrical jobs myself?
Please do not. Electrical work can cause shocks and fires, and work without a permit can fail an inspection. Even swapping a light fixture is safer with an electrician.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Sparks, a burning smell, hot or buzzing outlets, water near wiring, or a loss of power that is not a utility outage. Keep clear and call us. If there is smoke or fire, leave the building and call 911.
How long does a typical job take?
A new outlet or fixture usually takes an hour or two, a panel upgrade about a day, and a full rewire several days depending on the size of the home. You get a time estimate with your quote.
Will you need to open up my walls?
We use existing routes where we can and keep openings small. If any patching will be needed, we tell you before we start.
When should I upgrade my electrical panel?
If breakers trip often, the panel feels warm or is very old, or you are adding an EV charger, a heat pump or a new kitchen, have it checked. We tell you honestly whether an upgrade is needed.
