That is part of the charm, but it also means it is worth a moment’s thought before you book. These questions help you find the room that suits you.

Who is coming?

Check how many people each room sleeps and what the beds are. A king bed, a queen bed and two singles suit very different trips. Families may want a larger room or a cot, and friends travelling together often prefer twin beds.

Bath or shower?

Some rooms have a bath, others a shower only. If a long soak is part of your plan, choose a room with a bath. If anyone in your group finds it hard to step into a bath, a walk-in shower is easier.

Stairs and access

Older houses often have stairs and no lift. If stairs are difficult for you, ask for a ground-floor room when you book, and tell your hosts about any other needs so they can help.

View and quiet

Rooms at the front may face the street, while rooms at the back are usually quieter. A garden or water view is lovely for a slow morning. If you are a light sleeper, mention it when you book.

Book direct and ask

The simplest way to get the right room is to ask. When you book directly with a small inn, you can talk to the people who know every room, ask about anything that matters to you, and make special requests before you arrive.

Bed size, view, bath or shower, stairs and quiet: the questions to ask before you book a room at a small inn.

[1

post-10","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
