It rarely costs more than the cover price, and the shop does the searching for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to bring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The title and author<\/strong>, if you know them. A photo of a review or a screenshot works too.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>The ISBN<\/strong>, the 10- or 13-digit number on the back cover or the copyright page, if you have it. It identifies the exact edition.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>The format you want:<\/strong> hardback, paperback or large print.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Whatever you remember<\/strong>, if you have neither: the subject, the colour of the cover, where you heard about it. Booksellers are good at this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens next<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shop checks whether the book is available from its suppliers and gives you an idea of how long it will take. You leave a phone number or email, and the shop gets in touch when the book arrives. Ask how long they can keep it for you and whether you pay when you order or when you collect, as this varies from shop to shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the book is out of print, ask whether the shop can look for a second-hand copy.
