Alterations, repairs and fittings
Hems, waists, sleeves, zips and linings, wedding and formalwear, and made-to-measure suits. Every job starts with the garment pinned on you.
Alterations, measured out
The jobs we do most, with the price they start from. The final price depends on the fabric and how much needs to change, and we tell you before we cut anything.

Plain or turn-up hem, measured with your shoes on.
Ready in 48 h
Hem jeans with the original hem

The worn factory hem is kept and set back on.

Example prices. We confirm the price when we pin the garment on you, before any work starts.
When it will be ready
You get a ticket with the ready date when you drop the garment off. We send a text when it is done.
Standard
5 to 7 working days (example)
Every alteration and repair on the price list. Coat linings and wedding dresses take longer, and we agree the date at the fitting.
Express
Ready in 48 h
For trouser hems and zips, when you need them for a trip, an interview or an event. From $10 extra per garment (example).
Getting married or going to a formal event? Tell us the date at your first fitting and we plan the fittings back from it.
Repairs for clothes you want to keep
Bring it in and we will tell you honestly whether it can be mended, what it will cost and how it will look.
Tears, split seams and moth holes
Mended by hand or machine, as invisibly as the fabric allows.
Linings for coats and jackets
A torn or worn-out lining replaced, so a favourite coat goes on for years.
Zips, buttons and buttonholes
Broken zips replaced, buttons sewn back on and buttonholes re-stitched.
Letting out and resizing
When there is enough seam allowance, we let garments out as well as in.
Restyling
Update the cut of a dress or jacket you love but no longer wear.
Pressing
Suits and dresses steamed and pressed, on their own or after an alteration.
Wedding and formalwear
A wedding dress or a hired suit rarely fits straight off the rail. We fit it on you, plan the changes around the date, and keep it pressed and hung until you collect it.
- Wedding dress hems, bustles, straps and taking in the bodice
- Bridesmaid dresses, altered as a set so the hems match
- Suits for the groom and the wedding party, bought or hired
- Prom, gala and black-tie outfits
Book the first fitting six to eight weeks before the wedding, with two or three fittings in total (example).

A suit made to your measurements
Suits, jackets and trousers cut for you, in four appointments over about five to six weeks (example). Made-to-measure suits start from $850 (example price).

1
Consultation
Tell us what the suit is for and how you like to wear it. You choose the cloth, lining and buttons from our swatch books.
2
Measuring
About 25 measurements, taken standing the way you normally stand, plus notes on posture and how you like the fit.
3
First fitting
About three weeks later you try the suit on, pinned and loosely stitched, and we mark every change on it.
4
Final fitting
You try the finished suit on. We make any last small changes and press it before you take it home.
Before your fitting
Cannot find your answer? Call us, or ask at the counter.
What should I bring to a fitting?
The garment, and the shoes you will wear with it, because they change where a hem should fall. For a dress, also bring the underwear or shapewear you plan to wear. For a suit, wear a shirt like the one you will wear with it.
Do I need an appointment?
Not for hems and small repairs: drop in Tuesday to Saturday between 10:00 and 16:00. Please book wedding fittings and made-to-measure consultations, so we have time to do them properly.
How long will it take?
Most alterations are ready within 5 to 7 working days, and trouser hems and zips can be ready in 48 hours for a small extra charge (example times). You get the ready date on your ticket.
Can every garment be altered?
Most can be made smaller. Letting out depends on how much seam allowance is inside, and some fabrics, such as leather and sequins, need special care. We look at the garment and tell you honestly before you pay.
How much will it cost?
The price list shows where prices start. We confirm the final price when we pin the garment on you, before any work starts.
How long do you keep finished garments?
We keep finished work for 60 days (example). If you need longer, for example before a wedding, just tell us.
Bring it in and try it on
