Working near other people is one of the nicest parts of coworking, but it can take a few weeks to feel like you belong. You do not need to be outgoing. Small, regular habits work best.
1. Use the kitchen at busy times
The coffee machine and kitchen are where most conversations start. Taking your break around mid-morning or lunchtime makes it easy to say hello.
2. Go to one event a month
Breakfasts, lunch-and-learn sessions and Friday socials are designed for meeting people. Pick one that interests you and put it in your calendar.
3. Ask the community team for introductions
The people at the front desk usually know who does what. If you are looking for a designer, a developer or someone in your field, tell them.
4. Share what you do
Add a short note to the members’ board or channel if your space has one: your name, what you work on and what you would like to learn. It gives people an easy reason to say hello.
5. Be a good neighbour
- Take long calls in a phone booth or meeting room.
- Use headphones for music and videos.
- Clean up the kitchen after yourself and book rooms only for the time you need.
Friendships and work connections tend to grow slowly from small conversations. Give it a few weeks, keep showing up and it will start to feel like your place.
